Cypress and Villa in Mist is composed around tonalist landscape references, old estate grounds, and cypress trees held in low mist. The villa sits back from the eye, giving the piece distance rather than spectacle.

It is designed for rooms that need atmosphere without feeling heavy: bedrooms, studies, guest rooms, reading corners, and longer quiet walls.

Holds a wall on its own, or pairs with other Landscape pieces for a more collected arrangement.

Heather's Note

The tonalist painters of the late nineteenth century were interested in mood as a subject, not what a landscape contained, but what it felt like to be inside it. The mist here does that work: it softens the villa, extends the cypress lines, and makes the whole scene feel slightly remembered rather than observed. It is the kind of image that rewards peripheral vision. Hang it somewhere you will pass rather than somewhere you will stare.
