The piece carries more weight than a soft floral. Its mood is severe, elegant, and slightly funereal, designed for rooms that use shadow deliberately rather than avoid it.

Heather's Note

The dahlia has always felt more architectural than delicate to me. It is all structure: folded petals, shadowed recesses, and a bloom that seems built rather than simply grown. This black dahlia leans into that quality. The leaves are cool and dark, the flower is nearly swallowed by its own color, and the paper ground gives it the feeling of something preserved in a private folio. It is beautiful, but not sweet. It belongs in rooms that are comfortable with shadow.
